EMDR Therapy North Brisbane
Get the help and support you need with EMDR therapy at our Stafford Heights clinic.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an interactive psychotherapy technique. It’s used to treat people suffering from anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and other conditions, and is considered especially effective for people dealing with traumatic memories and struggle to talk about their experiences. While EMDR isn’t as widely known or practiced as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), it’s effectiveness at treating PTSD has endeared it to the mental health community. At North Brisbane Psychology, we now offer EMDR therapy for depression, PTSD and other conditions at our Brisbane northside clinic.
How effective is EMDR therapy?
Most studies conducted on the effectiveness of EMDR therapy relate to PTSD, with the majority of these studies showing that EMDR therapy sessions are highly effective for treating PTSD. Moreover, EMDR is a recommended treatment for PTSD in the World Health Organization’s ‘Guidelines for the Management of Conditions Specifically Related to Stress’, and Australia’s Department of Veterans’ Affairs recommends EMDR therapy as a suitable treatment of PTSD for members of the Australian Defence Force.
What can EMDR therapy help with?
EMDR therapy can assist with PTSD, anxiety, depression and more.
EMDR therapy is most commonly used to treat PTSD in both the short and long-term, but it has also been used to great effect for a variety of other conditions, including:
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Eating disorders
