CBT Therapy North Brisbane
Our caring and compassionate psychologists provide CBT therapy to treat a range of conditions and disorders.
Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a focused approach to treatment which we offer at our North Brisbane clinic. As a therapy, CBT is widely used to treat a variety of conditions and disorders, and can be broken down into two main aspects — behavioural therapy and cognitive therapy. Behavioural therapy posits that as behaviour is learned it can be changed, while cognitive therapy is based on the theory that cognitions directly influence behaviours and emotions, and that behaviours and emotions also influence cognitions.
Essentially, CBT is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, actions and physical sensations are all interconnected, that negative feelings and thoughts can snowball from minor issues to major problems, trapping you in a vicious cycle from which it seems like there’s no escape. The aim of cognitive behaviour therapy treatments is to help people who suffer from conditions, disorders and thought patterns which overwhelm them by breaking problems which seem unmanageable down into smaller parts that are more easily scrutinised, worked through and overcome.
At Brisbane Centre for Psychology, our compassionate and qualified psychologists offer cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) at our conveniently located clinic in Stafford Heights on the Brisbane Northside. We operate a caring clinic that serves as a ‘safe place’ for our patients.

Cognitive therapy uses a range of evidence-based methods and techniques to correct maladaptive behaviours which are caused by faulty thinking patterns, including:
- Skills training like anger management, stress management, social skills training, communication training, assertiveness training, etc.
- Activity scheduling (identifying and scheduling helpful behaviours)
- Therapeutic interventions like self-instructional training and cognitive restructuring.
