How We Can Support You

Helping You Navigate the NDIS with Ease

The NDIS is there to help fund the supports that make it easier to live your life, and for many participants, mental health care is a really important part of that.

If you’ve put off seeking support because the system felt confusing or overwhelming, you’re not alone. Our friendly Client Support Team is here to walk you through each step, explain how your funding can be used for psychology and counselling, and liaise with your plan manager or support coordinator where it helps, so you can focus on what actually matters: your well being and your goals.

We welcome plan-managed and self-managed participants:

Please note: we are not currently registered with the NDIA, so we’re unable to support agency-managed plans.

For Support Coordinators & Referrers

We know how much trust goes into referring a participant to a new provider. We make that referral simple, and we keep you in the loop.

To refer or discuss a participant, call our Client Support Team on 1300 325 414.

NDIS Psychologist FAQs

The NDIS may fund psychology when it relates to your disability support needs, helps build or maintain your capacity for everyday activities and meets the NDIS funding criteria. The support must also be included within the funding available in your NDIS plan.

NDIS psychologist services may focus on areas such as developing emotional regulation, communication, relationships, problem-solving, decision-making and participation at home, work, school or in the community. The NDIS does not generally fund psychology that is primarily clinical treatment for a mental health condition.

If you are unsure whether your plan can be used for psychology, your support coordinator or plan manager can help you review your funding. Our Client Support Team can explain our services, fees and invoicing arrangements.

Our NDIS psychology services are available to children, adolescents and adults with plan-managed or self-managed funding where psychology relates to their disability support needs and specific NDIS goals.

We support participants with a range of needs, including psychosocial disability, autism, intellectual disability, emotional regulation difficulties, communication and relationship challenges, and difficulties affecting everyday functioning or participation.

Brisbane Centre for Psychology is not registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. This means we cannot provide NDIS-funded services to participants whose relevant funding is NDIA-managed.

Yes. We welcome both plan-managed and self-managed participants.

For plan-managed participants, invoices can be sent to the nominated plan manager for processing. Self-managed participants pay for their appointments directly and manage reimbursement through their NDIS plan.

As an NDIS psychology provider for plan-managed and self-managed participants, we provide clear information about our fees and invoicing arrangements before appointments begin.

You do not generally need a GP referral to use NDIS funding for psychology. Participants can contact us directly, or a support coordinator, family member, plan manager or health professional can make an enquiry on their behalf.

Before booking, our Client Support Team will discuss the participant’s needs, goals, preferences, funding arrangements and availability to help determine whether we have a suitable psychologist.

The first appointment gives the participant and psychologist an opportunity to get to know one another and discuss what the participant would like support with.

The psychologist will ask about the participant’s strengths, experiences, current challenges, communication preferences and NDIS goals. Together, they can identify an initial focus for therapy and discuss whether family members, carers or other support people should be involved.

An NDIS Service Agreement is created and agreed between the psychologist and the participant. This document sets out the agreed services, fees, funding arrangements and expectations for ongoing support.

Psychology for NDIS participants focuses on building or maintaining skills and functional capacity in areas affected by disability. Depending on the participant’s individual needs and goals, therapy may support emotional regulation, communication, social relationships, problem-solving, decision-making, adapting to change or participation in everyday activities.

Our NDIS psychologists work collaboratively with participants to develop relevant and achievable therapy goals and review progress over time. With the participant’s consent and where clinically appropriate, psychologists may also collaborate with families, carers, support coordinators and other health professionals to support a coordinated approach.
